Website Design Philosophy

A great website is probably the most important salvo in your marketing communication arsenal. A great web site is dynamic and ever changing. It’s a living document that is constantly morphing to meet the changing informational needs of your customers. I can design and maintain your site, or, if you wish, I can install web tools that allow you change your own content whenever you want, form any web browser.

HTML, XHTML, and CSS

I prefer XHTML strict pages for content and use externally attached cascading style sheets (CSS) for design. With the proliferation of smart phones and other non-standard web browsing devices, it only makes sense to design content that will both adhere to international web standards and display properly on the greatest number of devices.

Flash

I like Flash, but search engines don't. Flash can add pizzazz and excitement to your site, but it must be used sparingly and with care. I design using Flash / Action Script 3 to add a little "sizzle" when required and necessary.

Content Management Systems

Another hot web topic these days is content management or CMS. Content managers facilitate the cataloging of web content such as articles, blogs, white papers, images, etc.. Once a content management system (cm's) is set up, visitors can easily search for the results they desire. I can integrate a CMS system such as Joomla, Drupal, or Wordpress into your existing "brochure" site, or completely "wrap" your site in a CMS system.

Professional Web Blogs

If your business isn't already bogging, it probably should be. Professional blogs (web logs), are a great way to increase the content value of your site and increase search engine optimization. I can walk you through the steps necessary to create a great blog site with a minimum amount of expense or technical knowledge.

Search Engine Optimization

Lastly, what good is a web site if no one can find it through Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, or the Open Directory Project? SEO, or search engine optimization requires a combination of site attributes and search engine awareness techniques. If done correctly, site pages rise in the rankings organically, without the need for "Ad Words" or other paid services.
